How I discovered The Feldenkrais Method®:
I was having chronic pain in my lower back, hip and down my
left leg for several years. I went to many doctors, had x-rays
and MRI’s and no one could give me any answers that
made sense or helped the pain. I was sent to a physical therapist
who wanted me to experience the Feldenkrais practitioner that
worked in her office. I was reluctant, but was finally talked
into it. After 1 or 2 sessions, my pain was completely gone.
Not only that, my posture improved, other aches and pains
I frequently suffered had disappeared, and I learned of new
ways to move, sit, stand & sleep that were much more comfortable
than before. I would walk around my house all day trying the
new, improved ways of moving, constantly surprised by how
easy and effective they were, finding myself saying, “Fascinating!”
every time I discovered a new way to carry myself. I noticed
my thinking changing, from needing to do large, grand, stretching
movements to small, gentle ones. And it was something I could
do on my own without having to spend money and time going
to someone to “fix me”.
I was so excited about this revolutionary method, I decided
to take the training. I completed the 4-year training program
and became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner in
2004. I did the Bones for Life training in 2005 with Ruthy
Alon, the creator.
Prior to this phase of my life I owned several travel agencies
(while living in Kansas City) and sold them in 1986 to a
very large firm. After that I moved to Newport Beach, CA
where I now live. I changed gears (as well as states) and
became an artist working mainly in ceramics. I am married,
have 2 children, 4 grandchildren and a dog.
My purpose is to empower people, giving them the tools
to improve and help themselves. I want to give others the
means to take charge of their own improvement. I have been
very active in the physical fitness field for over 30 years.
I am passionate about personal growth and believe The Feldenkrais
Method is an important part of an integrative therapeutic
approach.
